Avery Lockhart and Olivia Holbrook are both good at everything they try. Avery is the star of the swim team and Olivia has captured every academic accolade that Huntington Prep has to offer. Yet, as two very different girls from very different backgrounds, their paths have never crossed. That changes when Olivia's favorite teacher assigns her to interview Avery for the yearbook. One simple meeting alters their potential paths, setting into motion a string of events that will make them realize that there's more to life than playing the roles that have been picked out for them.

Keep in mind, my review is based on 50% of this book.
Some good notes: I like some of the darker components this book contains. There's an abusive and inappropriate relationship that can be something to sympathize and possibly empathize with for someone who is struggling with their identity and self-confidence. It's not a fluffy or cute story, and I often enjoy that type of setting once in a while.
On the downside: I'm almost never a fan of the I-love-you-even-though-we-just-met-a-day-ago type romances. This one was no exception. The entire reason I could not finish was due to the eye-rolling quantity of love that these two instantaneously felt for one another. They are in high school, and I'm aware that things seem vital at that age, but I felt like suggesting that they wait and see how they feel after entering the workforce, paying bills, having a pet or child together and taking on some major responsibilities that can test the stress levels and compatibility of a relationship. Passion is believable. I could read this if they expressed how intense they desired to be with one another. But identifying those feelings as love was painful to follow. I'm also not sure that I have ever seen a teenager opt to wear formal outfits involving blouses/blazers, pencil skirts, and high heels to school. If those students exist (outside of a private or uniformed institution) then cudos to them for having a great sense of pride and professionalism.
I can't say you should or shouldn't read this book because it has some thrilling, interesting plot development that I'm sure some people can enjoy. However, for me, both the plot and characters were too unrealistic and difficult to accept.

Paper Dolls Book One Volume 1 Emma Chamberlain Blythe Stone Books Reviews

This story rang so true it was like reliving my own angst driven teenaged insanity all over again!!! Marvelously written tale with sensitively portrayed characters, a most enjoyable read!!! Highly recommend this book!!!!
This book is intence. Both characters had a depth about them that I absolutely loved, their relationship is "pure passion" its even more than that.. Its so much I can't explain. Great job authors..
It was so easy to get lost in this story. To feel everything that Olivia and Avery felt. Usually I'll like one character more than the other but with these two, it's hard to not like both them equally. Despite the grammatical errors, the words used to tell their story were intricately woven together. For the lack of better words, it's a beautiful hot mess. Can't wait to read the next one.
This was hard to get through, where I didn't finish it because I couldn't get into the story. It's to long winded, with constant reminder that the characters were depressed and dealt with their issues engaging in rough sex. I couldn't go through more crying and despair about not being worthy of love. I just couldn't take anymore.
This book is ohh... soo.. Involved with two young women finding Miss Right! Emma, the author, takes us on an adventure that makes our emotions soar one minute and descend the next; YOU might think this chaotic but you have to feel IT to know it's not. You will sometimes feel it's repetitive BUT you need to consider the circumstances, the setting and how WILDLY young women's feelings can go completely out of control!!!

This book will give you a new look at LOVE 💘 in only the way that two young women can see IT!

You'll want to get this book TODAY! You won't regret it.
This is one of the best books I have ever read. Love is a word described a million different ways by the same person and millions upon millions of people are saying it those different ways daily. This was the first time I have ever read a story and truly FELT the love as it was written. It was a book I couldn't put down just because I wanted to continue feeling these words as clearly as I do when I look over at my wife. Amazing! Thank you!
The first thing that hit me, about this book, was how needlessly wordy it was. The author would spend paragraph after paragraph, saying the same thing over and over again. At times, I found the mixed metaphors, and the weird similes, a bit confusing. Mostly I just thought, I get it move on already.
Even with the bad writing, I thought the book had potential. I found the love triangle, among the neglected rich girl, the broken school princess, and the sleezy teacher intriguing. To bad the author hastily plowed threw it. The girls went from strangers to madly in love (emphasis on the madly) in two weeks. The author wrapped up the main plot, of the story, half way threw the book, leaving so many avenues unexplored.
The rest of the book was a nearly unreadable roller-coaster ride, of lovers tiffs over slight misunderstandings, mushy lovers talk, so corny and over the top, it actually hurt, and graphically depicted sex. It was like the author was afraid, if she didn't have a reminder every paragraph or two, that the main characters were in love, the reader might forget
The whole thing read like bad fancfiction, where the writer just wanted to play ,kissing face with her favorite characters, without having an actual story to go with it.
